I’ve become addicted to Steve McVey’s Sunday Preaching. I mentioned it last time, but I’m even more hooked now. My husband and I like to say that sometimes we need a grace fix.
He said something this past week that has been making me smile ever since. “Grace isn’t right or wrong…Grace is ridiculous!”
I love that! Who else but God would say, “You can never behave so badly that you would be less acceptable to Me, and you can never behave so well that you would be more acceptable to Me.”
We are fully accepted. He’s so crazy about us. I love walking around knowing that. I love knowing that I’m His treasure and all He wants from me is just to have relationship with me.
I love knowing that He knows everything about me and loves me anyway.
And, grace is ridiculous. It so anti-everything that the world is about. It cannot be fathomed by the human mind and so has to be revealed by the Holy Spirit.
Children are the closest to getting it which is why He says, “At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure” (Luke 10:21).
And, listen to this verse in Psalms that I heard last week in an unrelated context and had never noticed before, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain” (Psalm 139:6).
Isn’t that the truth? It’s too good. We could never reason it out because it’s unreasonable.
Thanks goodness that being ridiculous and being reality aren’t mutually exclusive, because no matter how real we feel this world around us it, it isn’t actually reality. God’s reality is the only reality. Grace is reality.
Is the website http://www.gracewalk.org ?
